Don't bail out the auto industry
Megan McArdle is right on the money, as usual. An auto industry bailout would be a massive waste of taxpayer money and would only postpone the inevitable. Unfortunately the Democrats will almost certainly do it anyway for political reasons.

SF outrage of the week
The San Franciso Chronicle reports that federal agents swooped in to the Mission district Wednesday morning to arrest 29 members of the bloodthirsty MS-13 street gang that had been extorting and terrorizing the neighborhood for years. You'd think the city would be grateful, but supervisor Tom Ammiano and other city leaders actually denounced the operations as violent immigration raids that sweep innocent people into their dragnet.
